BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY, MARKETS

DAVID WEBSTER, President, Asia Pacific & Japan, Senior Vice President, EMC Corporation

David Webster is President, EMC Asia Pacific and Japan, a post he has held since July 2012. With revenues of $21.7 billion in 2012 and 60,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset — information — in a more agile, trusted, and cost-efficient way.

Webster is responsible for extending and further driving EMC's growth and continued leadership in APJ by delivering and supporting the full range of EMC's products, services and solutions in established and new markets; enhancing partner and channel relationships as well as furthering product development throughout the region. In 2011, EMC, with the help of its partners, generated more than $2.6 billion in revenue from Asia Pacific and Japan operations and now employs more than 10,000 information management and storage professionals in the region to help customers design, implement and realize the benefits of IT transformation, cloud computing, big data and trusted IT strategies. Reporting to Bill Scannell, EMC President of Global Sales and Customer Operations, Webster has more than 25 years of information technology experience across the Asia Pacific and Japan region.

Webster joined EMC in August 2005 as President, EMC Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and in October 2010, assumed an expanded executive leadership position as President, EMC South East Asia (SEA) while continuing to lead the EMC business in ANZ. In his dual role, Webster achieved solid and strategic growth as well as oversaw the business and operational performance of both geographies under his common executive leadership. In addition to driving significant market share gains, tripling EMC's business and expanding the channel partner ecosystem for ANZ and SEA, Webster also led EMC's entry into the managed services business in ANZ.

Before EMC, Webster was Vice President and Managing Director at PeopleSoft Inc. in ANZ, leading the organization through significant business growth; acquisition, merger and integration activities as well as continuous organizational development and change. Prior to his tenure at PeopleSoft, Webster spent 12 years at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems in several senior management positions, of which the last four was spent as regional Managing Director for the SEA region.

Virtual Instruments is the leader in Infrastructure Performance Management (IPM) for physical, virtual, and cloud computing environments. The award-winning VirtualWisdom platform drives improved performance and availability against infrastructures supporting critical applications, while lowering costs. The VirtualWisdom platform has been architected from the ground-up to provide visibility into the performance and availability of an organizations' IT infrastructure. When evaluating infrastructure performance management solutions, organizations need to consider:

1. Continuous Real-Time Measurement: Measurement of end-to-end response times to get a true view of infrastructure performance.

2. Unbiased and Heterogeneous: The ability to collect data from various devices in the infrastructure without a dependency on or giving priority to specific vendor products.

3. Systemic Data Collection: Data and metrics that are collected throughout the IT infrastructure, including from the virtual machines, servers, fabric switches, storage arrays and volumes.

4. System-wide Visibility: The capability to track any activity across the IT infrastructure for a high-level view into the performance, health and utilization of the end-to-end infrastructure.

Virtual Instruments was founded in June 2008 with headquarters in San Jose, Calif. and sales and engineering offices throughout the US, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
